Greetings!
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” - Psalm 46:1
God’s hope and encouragement can come from unexpected places. I recently visited Doug B. in palliative care. He is in good spirits and is grateful for the excellent care he is receiving. He sends warm greetings to the whole congregation. He wanted to know how the congregation is doing. I told him that we have great energy on Sunday mornings, and that we also have a large deficit. Both really good things and big challenges at the same time. He wanted me to tell you to keep up your strength: to put your hope in God and draw your strength from God.
Isn’t it amazing that a brother-in-Christ who is in Palliative care can give us encouragement? That is the power of Jesus. Even in the most difficult circumstances, Jesus gives us strength. Strength for our own challenges and strength to help others through theirs.
Keep up your strength! Trust in Jesus. Remember that in all things, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Sarina
