Greetings!

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change.” - Psalm 46:1-2a

We all woke this morning to a hazy sky from the smoke of the wildfires in Québec. I don’t know about you, but I can feel the smoke in my eyes. Many communities have had to be evacuated. Let us come before God in prayer for this situation, both here and all across Canada. Let us pray for those who are affected. This prayer is adapted from https://www.episcopalrelief.org/church-in-action/worship-resources/let-us-pray/wildfire-prayers/

Almighty God, who is our strength and our refuge; be with those who are besieged by fire, guide those who evacuate so that they may find care and comfort in a safe place; protect their homes and their pets, their neighbors and their friends, so that they may return home to a loving community.

Bless the firefighters with wisdom, strength, and success. Keep them safe as they work to put out the fires.

We pray for the smoke to clear. We pray for clean air. Provide those who are affected by the smoke with the tools they need to get through this time of smog.

We ask this in the name of Jesus your son, who abides with you and with the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Grace and peace, Rev. Sarina
