Mid-week Message

Greetings!

“He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” - Micah 6:8

Presbyterian World Service and Development (PWS&D) has been doing justice, loving kindness, and walking humbly with God for 75 years. To celebrate, they have released the prayer book Overflowing, which I mentioned earlier in the year. If you would like a copy, they are free and available in the church office.

Recently, PWS&D also released another book called Practical Compassion about the church’s work responding around the world. This collection of powerful photographs and meaningful reflections seeks to capture the heart of PWS&D’s work in development, relief and refugee sponsorship over the past 75 years. From the first relief efforts in Europe after the Second World War to current sustainable development and humanitarian responses, the book shows us how PWS&D continues to be an effective mechanism for the church to reach out to our neighbours­—the ones we can see and the ones we can’t see.

There is a copy of Practical Compassion on the table in the narthex, right next to the sanctuary door. I encourage you to take a look. It is inspiring and reminds of how our partnership with PWS&D enables us to participate in their work of doing justice, loving kindness, and walking humbly with God.
