Greetings!
“Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for YHWH shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” - Isaiah 40:30
As time passes, it becomes more and more clear that we are in this pandemic for the long-haul. What this means is that we are living through an extended period of waiting. Thanks be to God that waiting is part of the Christian life. Isaiah reminds us that, “those who wait for YHWH will renew their strength.” It goes against the grain to stay home, to wait, but God is with us in the waiting. It doesn’t make us weak, but makes us strong.
The old adage says that, “patience is a virtue.” That is certainly true in this pandemic. Patience saves lives; patience gives medical professionals time to do their work; patience renews our strength in God. This strength from God will give us what we need to mount up with wings like eagles, and to live through this pandemic without growing weary or faint.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Sarina
