No Services This Week @Briarwood

Sunday, March 15th, 2020 - Services and activities cancelled:

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is a rapidly evolving situation. The leadership at Briarwood is monitoring it very closely. Premier Francois Legault issued some restrictions in the province of Quebec yesterday. While we do not have 250+ people on a Sunday morning, we do have a large number of regular attendees who are age 65+, the high-risk age group. Consequently, we have decided to cancel services and activities for this Sunday, March 15, 2020.

Where is God in all of this?

This situation can feel very overwhelming. Where is God in all of this? God is right here with us, accompanying us through this. The Bible does not promise that bad things won’t happen. What the Bible promises us is that God will walk with us through whatever it is that happens. God promised to never leave us or forsake us in Deuteronomy 31:6. In Psalm 23, the Psalmist wrote, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil because you [God] are with me.” Then in Jesus, God became flesh and dwelled among us as a tangible commitment to that promise. Jesus also promised in Matthew 28:20, “I will be with you always to the end of the age.” Through the Holy Spirit, we are united with God in Christ forever. God is at work in and through us already to bring redemption, hope, and peace into this very uncertain and rapidly evolving situation. May you feel God’s strong presence with you. May you find hope in Jesus. May you find courage through the Holy Spirit.
