Précis of February Session Meeting
Greetings,
A tone of celebration and praise dominated our February Session meeting held on Valentine’s Day – perhaps enhanced by chocolates!
We finalized details for the lunch and AGM this Sunday after the blended service. Participation from everyone is encouraged!
We finalized our plans for welcoming new members and celebrating baptisms at a blended service on April 30th. Anyone who is interested in becoming a professing member at Briarwood, or who would like to arrange a baptism, is encouraged to contact Sarina before the end of March.
We finalized the timeline for election of new elders. A nomination package will be distributed on February 24th and the deadline for nominations will be April 2nd. We are encouraging the whole Briarwood community to pray about who has the gifts for eldership and to nominate those individuals.
We decided on special services during Lent and Holy Week.
We will have an Ash Wednesday service at 7 pm on March 1st, and encourage everyone to participate. Children are welcome!
We will have a musical mediation at 7 pm on Maundy Thursday (April 13th).
Services on Good Friday (April 14th) will be at 11 am and 7 pm
Arrive early for our regular services on Easter Sunday (April 16th) – we anticipate a packed sanctuary!
You will notice a slight difference at the beginning of our Sunday worship services. Sarina will extend the initial welcome to everyone, and then introduce the elder on duty who will share the announcements.
Parents may want to pick up a “worship bag” with crayons and coloring sheets for their children before coming into the sanctuary – an idea inspired by Junia! They will be available in the Narthex. Ask the elder on duty!
During communion, we will invite the children back into the service, and children may celebrate communion if their parents agree.
Thanks again for those who are providing suggestions in our Suggestion Box. Each suggestion is being carefully considered and many have already been addressed. We encourage people to write their names on their suggestions, in case we need clarification and so we can provide feedback to you.
Until next month …
